Sugar

Rest in Peace 2008

Sugar was so full of heartworms when she was rescued, she didn't have the energy to walk around Petco. She found a soft, fluffy bed and plopped down in it.

Over the next year in foster care, she became healthier and regained her zest for life. Sugar never really found a home until her final days.

Tracing back Sugar's past, we found out she never really had a home. She was just a "gypsy girl" and lived from pillar to post. After coming to rescue, she was adopted to one home where she left and found a home down the road. She repeated this pattern until her rescuer picked her up and placed her on a farm. Sugar took to having baby goats to watch over.

No one ever really knew Sugar's age. She was like an old movie star. She hid her age very well and was much older than she acted. Sugar was able to live on the farm about a year before she went under the house one evening and passed away. This was the longest she had been in one place other than the foster home.

We think Sugar found a little piece of happiness before she passed away. Sugar was one of those dogs who was never really "owned" by anyone. She has finally found her home in heaven where she won't have to worry anymore about where her next meal and warm bed will be.
