SADIE

July 4, 2003 –
June 22, 2007
Sadie came from Cold Bay,
Alaska which is in the Aleutian Islands. As a puppy, she then flew to Anchorage
and then on down to Annette Island to Metlakatla, Alaska which is where I first
laid eyes on this beautiful girl.
I don’t remember what year it was that I first saw Sadie as a pup
riding around in the back end of her owner’s pickup truck. I
never would have guessed years later when I asked the owners if they
wanted Sadie that she would be given to me.
Sadie came to live with me on 7/4/2003. She had quite a trip to
make because I had already moved from the island back down to Iowa.
Luckily for me I had a friend on the island that happened to be
driving down to the Midwest and would bring my new dog with her.
So the arrangements were made to get Sadie on her way out of Alaska.
She was vetted, rode on the Alaska Marine Ferry to get to Prince
Rupert, British Columbia, came thru Customs, then rode in a van all of
the way to Minneapolis. I drove from Iowa to meet my new girl in
Minneapolis.
I always knew this was a special dog. It did not take me long at
all to realize that this dog was the love of my life. Sadie had
no hesitation to show her affection for us. Our presence
mattered to her and hers to us. We bonded on every level with
the strongest emotional connection ever. I will be forever
grateful to the previous owners for giving her to me. She was
truly a gift.
Sadie graced and honored our household for nearly four years.
She was a beloved companion, a family member and my best friend.
I will always miss my Sadie.
