NASRN FUNDRAISING

helping us help our dogs

2nd Annual NASRN Matching Funds Fundraiser

Last year we had our first Ranger Memorial Fundraiser after Ranger unexpectedly had to cross the Rainbow Bridge on 7/17/07.  Discussions were under way for this year's Ranger & NASRN Anatolian Memorial Fundraiser when a crisis call came into Carleen.  NASRN is undertaking a huge rescue in Oklahoma with an emergency request to take in 10 Anatolians. YES - 10 Anatolians.   Therefore, the annual Memorial fundraiser is being initiated a couple of weeks early as we have 10 Anatolians in urgent need.

For those who do not know about the Memorial Fund, here is a little background:

Carleen Conyers, who is the Director of NASRN and one of the Founders of NASRN, lost her personal dog Ranger, last July.  Ranger was 10 years old when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 7/17/07.  Losing a companion is never easy, especially when you are as bonded as Carleen and Ranger are.  Also, Ranger was the primary force that led Carleen to start NASRN years ago.  After getting Ranger, Carleen was not able to get the support she needed as a new Anatolian owner and she was insightful and realized there were many others just like her, needing help with the day to day issues when there is little or no support available.  Ranger was instrumental in helping to save hundreds of other Anatolians over the years.  Because of both his and Carleen's tenacity, they each had met their match and a bond was formed that would last his lifetime and led to the creation of NASRN.  Carleen has kept NASRN going despite all kinds of forces working against saving an Anatolian. She has sacrificed and forged ahead where most would have given up and decided it just wasn't worth it anymore.

In memory of Ranger, Carleen's hard work and effort over the past many years, and because summer months are the absolute worst time of the year for adoptions, with no money coming into rescue, a Memorial Fund in Ranger's honor was set up last year and was a huge success.  This is also in honor of all the other Anatolians we have loved and lost, especially here just recently. This fundraising would relieve a huge burden for Carleen, having the needed funds to get NASRN through the summer while recognizing all of her hard work and efforts to help the hundreds of Anatolians who have come through the program.

There is an anonymous donor who will match 100% of all donations up to $1500. If we can get just $1500 of donations, that amount will be matched 100% and create a fund of $3000. That may sound like a lot of money, but remember most rescue dogs cost over $500 in vetting and boarding alone and the adoption fee is just half this. That means for every adoption, NASRN is in the hole.  Without donations, NASRN is unable to survive.

Any amount will get us going in the right direction, so please don't think. "I can only give $10-20 so its not worth it".  Just like Ranger and Carleen, they started off small and ended up with NASRN and this wonderful support group. If enough people give, we can reach our goal. This will let Carleen know how much we all appreciate everything she does for NASRN and the Anatolians others have left behind.

Right now, anyone who donates, will get a free "I Love My Adopted Anatolian" bone magnet. Let's get this off the ground and get started meeting our goal. Our deadline is August 1, 2008 to raise $1500 to be matched 100%.  Remember, 100% of your donation is tax deductible.  Please email me with your planned gift so we can keep a running tally. Donations can be made on PayPal from the NASRN website or checks mailed directly to Carleen (contact me for the address), and make a notation that your donation is for the Ranger Memorial Fund. If you can mail a check directly to Carleen, you save NASRN the PayPal fee so the doggies get 100% of your generous donation.

No amount is too small.  Wknow times are tough right now, but any amount will help us reach our goal and qualify for the matching $1,500 donation!

Thank you for your time, Shelley contact@dogsonly.org

NASRN relies  on your donations to cover the expenses incurred in rescuing ASD's from shelters and private homes nationwide. Oftentimes, the dogs come to us in need of extensive veterinary care before they can be placed in new homes. All dogs are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, and given whatever other treatments they require, often amounting to hundreds of dollars.

Below are examples of some of our costs. Your tax deductible donation, in any amount, is greatly appreciated. Please ask for a receipt if you need one.

$25 buys a month's supply of food for a dog in foster care
$35 vaccinates a rescued dog
$50-$75 bails a dog out of a shelter
$85-$125 pays for a spay or neuter
$125 pays for a week of boarding if we can't find a foster home
$150 pays to have the dog transported to his new home

The National Anatolian Shepherd Rescue Network is a non-profit, nationwide organization dedicated to placing any and all Anatolian Shepherd Dogs (ASD's) and their mixes that are deemed "adoptable".

Our organization is comprised of ASD owners and breeders, both working and pet homes. We have joined together in an effort to help homeless and displaced Anatolians find a new lease on life.

The National ASD Rescue Network works with owners who are no longer able to, or no longer wish to, keep their Anatolians, in placing them in more suitable homes. We will not, however, place a dog for an owner who is asking a fee or selling their ASD. We also work directly with shelters in pulling dogs from facilities and placing them either in foster care or directly into new homes.

We will offer and provide assistance to ASD and other Livestock Guardian (LGD) breed owners who are having problems with their dogs, in an effort to keep the dog in its present home.

We offer ongoing support to our adopting families (and any other ASD owner) to help them through the transition period and beyond. When able to, we will also work with other Livestock Guardian rescue groups to help place other Livestock Guardian breeds into new homes as well.
