Looking for a way to make a difference? NASRN needs caring, responsible dog lovers to join our foster home team by opening their hearts and homes to rescued Anatolians. We can only save lives if we have places for dogs to go--foster homes. Would you consider saving a rescue dog's life by fostering one?

NASRN takes in hundreds of wonderful Anatolian Shepherd Dogs and their mixes each year. Many have been abandoned, abused, or suffered other hardships. We could not save them without our foster families. Most of our rescued Anatolians find sanctuary in our foster homes, giving us time to find each dog a safe, loving, forever home.

A NASRN foster home is someone with a heart big enough to provide temporary shelter to a rescued Anatolian. The foster home is the first step for our rescues after being turned over to NASRN. These rescue dogs deserve the chance to learn that life can be a lot better than what they have experienced so far. Our foster families provide input that's invaluable for finding the right adoptive home for every dog. And each dog that receives foster care is more adoptable and easier to place.

NASRN does everything we can to accommodate our foster families. You choose which rescue dog you want to foster. And we provide a great support team, vast amounts of expertise, and a friendly voice when needed.

By offering a foster home, you become a rescue Anatolian's savior. It's remarkable to see how these dogs change after short periods of time in foster care.

What foster homes do:

Provide sanctuary: Give your foster Anatolian a safe, stable place to live while NASRN searches for the right adoptive home. You provide food, water, and shelter. Most families foster each rescue Anatolian for an average of 3-4 months, but we never know how long it may take to find the right forever home for each dog.

Love the dog: Help your foster Anatolian learn that people can be caring, and that they can be trusted. Many of our rescued Anatolians are completely disoriented and even afraid from what they've experienced. They've been through a lot, and foster families help them learn that life is finally getting better.

Learn about the dog: Spend time learning about your foster Anatolian. We absolutely need information about a rescue dog's personality and temperament to help NASRN find the forever home that best matches each dog. Take pictures, keep a journal, write email updates...any information to help us find the best home for every Anatolian.

Do you have livestock, and are you willing to evaluate a rescue Anatolian with livestock? Many people want to adopt working dogs. We need foster families who can evaluate our rescue Anatolians with livestock to know whether a dog might be suited to a working home.

Teach manners: Help your foster Anatolian learn to be "family friendly" by training the dog. Rescue dogs have good intentions, but many have never learned basic manners, obedience, or indoor etiquette. Some don't even know how to walk on a leash!

Coordinate health care: Provide veterinary and follow-up care for your foster Anatolian. Foster families make sure that each rescue Anatolian receives a complete health evaluation along with treatment for any illnesses or parasites. All vet bills are paid by NASRN, and emergency visits are reimbursed by NASRN.

Help find the right forever home: You are your foster dog's best advocate. Talk with "approved for adoption" families about your foster Anatolian, and meet families that may fit your foster dog. NASRN's adoption coordinators and other volunteers will help.

Do you have a special place in your heart to temporarily house a rescued Anatolian? Become a foster home today and save a life!
